A mixed-age room
How a morning works
Students of two or three grades share one room. The morning has the same parts at every hub.
Reading and writing
Students read and write in groups by grade, with a guide at each table.
Math
A table of three or four students works at the same step, and a student moves on when the guide and the student agree.
A project block
A long stretch at the table on one project, such as a map of the neighborhood, a model or a garden bed, shared with the room at the end.
Speaking and listening
Older students read aloud to younger ones, and every student explains what they made.
Making
Clay, wood, paint and paper on set days, with the tools put away by the students.
Home days
Ironwood and Tomahawk each have a day at home, with reading and a notebook list from the guide.

Fees and what each is for
- Application
- Covers reading the application and meeting the family. Due when a family applies.
- Enrollment
- Holds a place after an offer is accepted, and counts toward tuition.
- Books and supplies
- The workbooks, notebooks and project materials for the year, ordered by the school.
- After care
- Billed by the month for the days a family chooses.
- Field days
- A few outings in the year, billed when a family signs the permission form.
